What’s the real role of Iran in the current unrest in Iraq especially in the shiaa parts?

1. Yes. Iran doesn’t seem to be interested in stable and democratic new Iraq which has good relationship with the west and especially with US. The image of a modern Iraq is the nightmare of Iranian mullahs. It could urge the Iranian people wanting the same system in their country. The separation between religion and state in new Iraq which supported by strong Ayatollahs in Iraq (like Sistani …) will deny their theocracy regime in Tehran. Iranian Admin wants to make US occupied in Iraq so they couldn’t build so much pressure against the other axis of evils. Hashemi Rafsanjani’s last Friday speech could a give a clue to US , when he mentioned Sadr as a hero and Iraq as a good lesson not to attack any Islamic country again. The allegations echoed by Donald H. Rumsfeld Wednesday “We know the Iranians have been meddling, and it's unhelpful to have neighboring countries meddling in the affairs of Iraq.” Some observers believe that this is a big final match between USA and Iran; both of them have their strong weapons. The Iranian has strong influence in Iraq while US has Iranian nuclear issue as a big card to play. Iran seems to have the upper hand when President Bush seems himself in pretty busy in his election campaign and couldn’t open new front in war in terrorism, but will things remain the same in 2005?

2. No, every country in the world doesn’t like to see in its neighbors unstable. Iran is the first country in the region which recognized Iraqi governing council. They have historic and strong ties with moderate shiaa members of IGC . Nobody can’t ignore their good relationship with the Kurds leaders. They fought against their brutal enemy saddam in the past two decades. Some reports indicates that Sadr family a nationalist Iraqi which haven’t good feeling about Iranians. The US secretary of state spokesman said earlier that there is no indication which shows Iran involvement in current uprising.

What do you think?
